The department has best facilities and faculty to provide knowledge on theoretical and practical aspects of different areas of electrical engineering. The course is designed to have an effective blend of engineering institution and mathematical rig on our students. The course encompasses the fun­damental aspects such as power generation, transmission and distribution, power system protection, electrical machines, measurement systems, control systems, electronics devices and circuits, power electronics etc. Apart from this, it gives emphasis to emerging technolo­gies like high voltage engineering, power semi conductors, digital signal processing, commu­nication systems, computing and program­ming techniques. The department has a well equipped Electrical Machine's laboratory and the other laboratories. This course is aimed at empowering engineers with strong technical knowledge and making them capable of applying theoretical knowledge to find solu­tions to practical problems.


ELECTRICAL WORKSHOP
The students get exposure to various wiring materials, MCB, ELCB etc and get training in the electrical wiring system, design and installation. The fluorescent lamp and incandescent lamp circuits with different controls are familiarized here.
ELECTRICAL MEASURMENTS LAB
The basic theorems in electrical engineering are experimentally verified. The lab also provides an intensive introduction in calibration of energy meters, magnetic measurements, inductance, capacitance measurements and various DC and AC potentiometers.
ELECTRICAL MACHINE LAB
The students get an insight into the wide array to heavy electrical machines. The installed facilities include DC machines, three phase slip ring and squirrel cage induction motors, synchronous machines, transformers, pole changing motor etc.
ELECTRONICS LAB
The students get exposure to various wiring materials, MCB, ELCB etc and get training in the electrical wiring system, design and installation. The fluorescent lamp and incandescent lamp circuits with different controls are familiarized here.
ADVANCED ELECTRICAL ENGINEERING LAB
It deals within an in-depth analysis of control system using sophisticated equipments like PID controllers, magnetic amplifiers, LVDTs, synchro transmission receiver and the like. With an overview of the basic principles of power electronics, the emphasis is laid on various controllers using SCRs, UJTs, DIACS, and TRIACS etc. It also houses 8085 and 8086 microprocessor kits, Pentium-based personal computers, interfacing devices like DAC, ADC, audio tape interface stepper motor interfaces, which helps the student to get acquainted with the concept of assembly language programming and interfacing principles.
INSTRUMENTATION AND CONTROL LAB
The depar tmental computer lab is equipped with two high end servers and forty numbers of computers, connected in LAN. In addition to the laser, inkjet and dot matrix printers, the lab also has scanners, CD writer and a Xerox machine. To develop the computational skills of students, advanced computational 24 software like MATLAB, Multisim and SKM power tools are installed and regular laboratory experiments are conducted using these software.
